Loeb gets sixth title win at rally of Great Britain

Sebastien Loeb dominated the start of the 2009 World Rally Championship, winning back-to-back victories in the first five rallies of the season and he has now achieved a record sixth successive world title with a win at the Rally of Great Britain

Frenchman Loeb started the year with a win on Rally Ireland. The Red Bull Citroen ace Loeb beat title rival Finn Mikko Hirvonen in the rally of GB to clinch his six title by a single point as a metal pin costing a couple of pounds helped to decide one of the closest finishes to the World Rally Championship on record.

Loeb had a 30-second lead over closest rival Mikko Hirvonen as he entered the final day of the World Rally Championship season in Wales having led by five seconds from Ford's Mikko Hirvonen at the end of the first leg of the rally which will decide the World championship.

The Finn and the Frenchman went into the final shootout with only a point between them in the duel for the World Rally Championship.
